Peckham House

2022 - 2025
South-East London

An extension for a young family to work and live, reforming an existing inefficient and outdated South London terraced house.

The concept is simple and steps away from the standard ‘infill’ extension. Instead, Geoffrey Bawa was drawn upon as as a key precedent to create a sun-catching courtyard linking a sitting room, kitchen, and new office extension.

The use of domestically sourced Douglas Fir windows and the addition of a small extension brings new light into the space and created a series of new, more suitable living areas bordering two sides of the existing house.

The office forms the third side of the courtyard. It is separated from the kitchen by a sliding door, creating an independent and peaceful workspace linked by the garden.
