Hawthorn Cottage is an  project to remodel a Grade II listed House around a new timber stair and living space, currently on site.

Built by Italian traders in the 18th Century, the current owner has integrated a new sewing studio and living space, connected with a solid Ash three storey stair.


Internally, the stairs will make use of existing nooks and inset walls, and will link the living spaces across three floors visually, but will seperate the sleeping areas into a separate side of the house.

















The site sits on a terrace overlooking the centre of Macclesfield. Below is an excerpt from the 1947 Film “So Well Remembered”, showing Hawthorn Cottage in the background.
