Thames Water Gate

2018
River Thames

Thames Water Gate was a proposal shortlisted by the London Festival of Architecture to create a floating pavilion temporarily perched on the North bank of the River Thames.

Made from a lightweight timber frame, the structure was planned to cantilever over the edge of the Thames embankment using Thames water as its counterweight.

This would create a platform to allow visitors to ‘cross’ the threshold of the river, raising awareness for the role the Thames plays within our city.
